Samburu

Where Nature Paints Its Most Majestic Canvas.

Located 345 kilometers north of Nairobi, at 967 meters above sea level and covering an area of 165 square kilometers, the Samburu Natural Park is in an ecological zone V classified as an arid and semi-arid zone. Crossing a river, Samburu (and Buffalo Springs) exudes a special atmosphere that makes this reserve as exceptional as it is unforgettable.

The temperature varies between 18 ° and 30 ° for a humidity of 42 to 57. The days can be very hot and the particularly cool nights. It is usually warm and sunny in Samburu where rains are still possible all year round. It is during the months of April and November that we observe the highest rainfall that can reach 354mm. The mild dry season begins at the end of May, it extends until October.

The Ewaso-Ngiro River marks the border between the Samburu and Buffalo Springs Reserves now in place. It is at the edge of his bed that focuses most of the fauna & nbsp; which benefits here from a generous and soft vegetation offered by this only source of water in the region.

The two parks (Samburu and Buffalo Springs) enjoy an exceptional animal wealth. Alongside the elephants and other reticulated giraffes, On your safari you will find rare species such as the elegant Grevy zebras, the distinguished ostriches of Somalia, the graceful gèrènouks (or Gazelles giraffes), and the proud oryx beïsa. You guessed it, predators are not lacking. Lions, leopards, cheetahs and other striped hyenas share the hunting territory. And, if you are lucky, you may come across a few rare wild dogs.
